2011 Goals

Osiyo~

Happy New Year- 2011!!!
It’s a brand spankin’ new, purty year folks! Shiny with new possibilities. Resolutions? Not for me. I make them and promptly break them. But I will say I have a few goals set for myself this year.

I want to get published. I know you know this, but in order for me to accomplish this goal there are several steps I have to take. Other than submitting the two already subbed mss. So, I plan to take more workshops on craft this year. One can never learn too much, right?

I plan (insert resolve) to finish my wolf series this year, or at least one of the three already-planned ones (which you can read about from my guest spot on Gale Stanley’s blog). If these stay short (under 20K words) I may be able to realistically finish all three in a year. If not and they go over 30K, then it would be unrealistic to say I will, when I won’t. So, depending on how long they run, determines how my querying goes. But I do plan to query this series out this year.

I plan to write book two to Healing Whispers. Book two is Garrett Star’s story. You will remember him (if book one sells and you read it) because Garrett is Tobi’s Vulcan-riding (a hot-ass motorcycle, for those who don’t know what this is) cousin. And again, if you ever get the chance to read book one (it must sell!), you’ll recognize the heroine in book two. Sara is Garrett’s former high school/college sweetheart, and Tobi’s bff, who works at the Ryan Bank & Trust. I thought these two deserve their own HEA since Sara’s a sad woman in book one and Garrett’s something of a jerk who needs reforming. And who better to reform the bad-boy than his first love?

Also, on the agenda, is a new medical. It’s a Christmas story of hope, and renewed faith in the holiday spirit. More on this one as I get it written. Pass the plotting stage. I know, you’re thinking “you’re a panster, you don’t plot”, but I’m giving that a whirl this year too. I’ve tried, and failed, in the past, so we’ll see how it goes with a determined effort.

So, that’s a few of my goals this bright new year. What about you? Any specific resolutions, or goals you’ve set to accomplish for 2011?

Good luck with your goals, Calisa! I'm pushing for 4 submittable books this year -- 2 novels, 2 novellas. So I better get writing! :)

I'm a total pantser and this year my goal is pretty much the same as yours - learn how to plot. I'm doing the Weekend Novelist with the Roses. Hope I can stick with it. I know this is your year Calisa. You can't keep those wolves penned up any longer. You have a great series.

Hi Calisa! Here's to the new year and selling your books. I applaud your goals and look foward to following your progress. I've only officially committed to completing/selling 1 novella, however, in honor of your valiant initiative, I shall add the goal of making 2 or 3 more sales of any size! Huzzah for all of us here!

Like you, I'm not big on resolutions, but I am determined to find some patience this year. I'll need it while I wait to finally see my book in print. My second goal, as you know, is to blog on regular basis. The finally goal, to finish book three, the one I've been stuggling with.

Good luck with your goals, Calisa. Let us know what we can help in any way. You know us Diva's won't hesitate to give our two cents worth.

Gale- We can struggle together. Let me cheat off you for the workshop? lol My wolves are not playing nice these days and I'm trying to keep up with them. ;)
Nas- thanks! I'll definitely chat about any workshops I take, and I will be taking. Just as soon as I get my 'writing' budget set back up.
Denise- Thanks for the Huzzah! Go sales you! I know you can do this.
Christina- <3 my Divas! Pins and needles for your first release!

Thanks Melinda. I hope so. I plan (not a resolution) to focus and write, write, write! And stuff you girls with crits!

Being a fellow pantser, I, too, need to at least get a working plot down before I start writing and get all sidetracked. Lots of luck with that!

Good luck Sandy. I see we all need to find our niche and stick with what works for us! Good luck to everyone in 2011!!!!!!

Like you, I was a panster, but now I'm trying the plot thing. Yay on Sarah and Garrett. Can't wait to read it!

Great goals! I use to be a panster too, but with the last book, I'm a plotter now. Even more since taking a storybooking class, I learned some great things in that class. That's good your going to take more classes this year. I'm planning on it as well.
